BCC and Blackberry announce the South East regional winner of the Business of the Year Award
Daniamant Limited, a member of Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, has been announced as the regional winner of the Business of the Year Award in the South East for the Chamber Awards 2007.
The company manufactures survivor location lights for the marine, military, civil and aviation markets and won the Blackberry sponsored award because judges were impressed by the new management team and what they had been able to achieve in a tough manufacturing sector. The directors have a strong understanding of the market, and have achieved good growth in sales due to effective targeted promotion, quality product development and well managed forecasts
The Business of the Year award is given to the company that demonstrates all-round excellence in business. The judging focuses on financial performance and future objectives, the competitive advantage of the business, and looks at examples of specific strategies which have driven business growth.
The judges commented:
“Daniamant has a strong understanding of its market, good growth in sales due to effective targeted promotion, quality product development and well managed forecasts and planning all serve to make this business a sound proposition. The fact that this business is under new ownership and operating in a tough manufacturing sector serves yet further evidence of why the panel chose this company as its business of the year. ”
Sarah Probert, BlackBerry, Customer Marketing Director, EMEA said;
“Many SMEs are using BlackBerry smartphones so that they can make the most of their limited and precious time – so we at RIM are acutely aware of the challenges that face this size of organisation. Many congratulations to Daniamant on winning the award for Business of the Year. It is great testament to the work they do in the safety sector.”
Daniamant Limited will now go through to national judging and the chance to win the top prize of £50,000, courtesy of Royal Bank of Scotland. The National Winners of the Chamber Awards 2007 will be announced at a Gala Dinner the Victoria and Albert Museum, London on the 29th November 2007.
Peter Mileham, President of the BCC, said;
“Daniamant Limited is a business that really stands out from the crowd. The competition was fierce. Making it to the shortlist is tough and winning is reserved for only the very best. Congratulations.”
Each of the regional winners received a certificate and they will all now go through to the national
round of judging and the chance to win the top prize of £25,000.
