They are both health-retired emergency service volunteers and are raising money in aid of four UK charities: Macmillan Cancer Support, Mind, MS-UK (Colchester) and St Helena Hospice (Colchester).

The 3000-mile crossing will be east to west from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean following the seasonal trade winds. They are combing new ‘green’ technologies to supplement their sails with a rechargeable electronic motor which will draw power from renewable energies (solar and wind). They are following and supporting the advice from ‘The Green Blue’, an RYA/British Marine joint environmental program.

“Daniamant are proud to donate and sponsor John-Kenneth and Courtney and help achieve this historical goal. It will be a dangerous voyage and we are happy to contribute to their safety at sea; in the hope that it will never be necessary for them to use our Odeo Distress or Odeo Strobe.  Our best wishes to them both in this epic adventure” – Said CEO, Kevin Rough
