Please see the statement below from our Notified Body on the current status of MED certificates held by Daniamant.
“To whom it may concern,
On Sunday 18th September 2016 a new version of the Marine Equipment Directive comes in to force. Directive 2014/90/EU replaces 96/98/EC.
We have been advised by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency that MED certificates issued under 96/98/EC will continue to be valid under 2014/90/EU until either:
– the product is modified;
– new requirements are published within subsequent Implementing Regulations;
– Administrative changes to the certificate are required.
It is expected that the first Implementing Regulation, which will replace Annex A.1 of 96/98/EC, will be published towards the end of 2016. Until this IR is published the current MED Amendment, 2015/559/EU will continue to be used.
I have attached a brief guide to changes in the Directive which will impact on MED approvals. This references BABT guidance documents which should be available at www.tuv-sud.co.uk from 19th September 2016. Summary download.
Any applications made after 18th September 2016 should be in line with the new Directive and use the new documents available on the website. For applications currently in progress it may be necessary for us to contact you for additional information because new certificates will need to be issued to the new Directive, 2014/90/EU.
If you have any queries or problems accessing the information please contact certification@tuv-sud.co.uk“
