Our history

Daniamant in Denmark was founded in 1975, importing diamond tools for the building industry.

It was 10 years later in 1985 that Daniamant first developed an IMO SOLAS approved Lifejacket Light. In the same year Daniamant developed an approved Liferaft Lighting system. The business developed rapidly from 1991 when IMO regulations were tightened to make lifejacket lights compulsory in vessels undertaking long voyages. The business developed steadily during the 1990’s and in 1998 was further boosted when IMO legislated for lifejacket lights on all SOLAS vessels, including passenger ferries.

In 2006 Daniamant expanded by acquiring the Survivor Location Lights division from McMurdo Ltd in the UK and set up Daniamant Ltd in the UK, which was soon followed by the acquisition of the Lifebuoy Lights business from Comet GmbH. Since then Daniamant has gone from strength to strength adding further acquisitions such as Uni-Safe Electronics, ODEO Flares, Echopilot leading to the development of more innovative products. Daniamant is facing the future as an important company within Swedish family run Ernströmgruppen (www.ernstromgruppen.com) being a vital member of the group’s Safety & Protection business area. Daniamant can be proud of its past, but excited about the future.
